In addition to offering tools for educators through a trauma informed awareness professional development series and youth resilience building via a culturally responsive trauma informed awareness and growth mind-set resilience lens, S.P has extended her platform to collegiate environments.
Professor S.P. Brown is an Adjunct Professor at Fordham University where she is engaging the undergraduate student population, teaching Psychology 3810, Trauma & Family Violence.
Professor S.P. also consults with Farmingdale State College, State University of New York (SUNY) around student resilience building and trauma informed awareness.

Trauma and Family Violence

COURSE OBJECTIVES
This course presents psychological perspectives on trauma, family conflict and violence, and related distressing life events. The objective of this course is to facilitate understanding of theory and practical applications related to trauma and violence in the family context. Topics covered will include the definition of traumatic events, diagnosis and treatment of trauma-related disorders, and the various forms of family violence.
